DEQ - The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality will conduct a watershed-based survey of the Upper Bayou Terrebonne in an effort to collect water discharge data. Starting in February, DEQ environmental scientists will visit facilities along Bayou Terrebonne from Thibodaux to the Inter Coastal Water Way in order to ensure that all facilities have current and appropriate water discharge permits.

TPSO - On January 13, 2012, Terrebonne Parish detectives began an investigation regarding exploitation of the infirm. A family member of the 18 year old mentally challenged victim filed a complaint that the victim's sister had taken a large amount of money out of the victim's bank account.

APSO - Late Thursday evening on January 26, 2012, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate a sexual assault of a an adult female from Napoleonville.  She stated that her son’s barber arrived at her residence after calling her and began knocking at the door.

TPSO - On January 25, 2012, Wednesday morning Terrebonne Parish detectives arrested Kaz James Boudreaux for unauthorized use of a credit card and identity theft.   The victim's credit was stolen and a few days passed before the owner noticed that the credit card was missing.

LPSO - Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported that Jeremy Schouest, (DOB 2/12/73) of 109 East Avenue I, Larose, was charged on January 25, 2012 with molestation of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile.

NSU - Capital One Bank has donated $45,000 to Nicholls State University, boosting a scholarship fund established by the bank in 2010 and supporting additional university programs. The scholarship assists low- to moderate-income students who meet entrance requirements.

TPSO - On January 23, 2012, Monday afternoon at approximately 1:00 p.m. a Terrebonne Parish deputy responded to the Ashland North subdivision, 3485 Fallon Dr., Houma in reference to a missing person. Deputies arrived at this location and contacted the mother of the missing person. She advised that her son, Herbert Johnson Jr., suffers with mental illness and has not taken his medication.

LPSO - Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre is warning business owners and residents about the most recent scam that has already hit at two Lafourche businesses. In this new scam, a male subject posing as a Western Union worker contacts a business with a Western Union machine and has employees transfer money to an account thinking it is part of routine maintenance.

LPSO - Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre is asking for the public’s help to identify two suspects that broke into a Raceland school over the weekend. Detectives are looking for two B/M subjects that were photographed on a surveillance system after breaking in to Raceland Upper Elementary School.

LPSO - Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported that a female South Lafourche High School teacher stands accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a 17-year-old male student. Heather Lasseigne Chiasson (W/F, D.O.B. 08/23/1982), of 112 E. 28th Place in Larose, was charged on Friday, January 20, 2012.

TPSO - On December 24th, 2011 at approximately 2247 hours TPSO deputies responded to 110 Hidalgo Dr. in reference to a runaway juvenile. Deputies were advised 15 year old (birth date 2-10-1996), Maili Parra, had left her grandmother's residence, where she lives, with a light skinned black male or a Hispanic male subject after her grandmother caught Parra in her bedroom with the male subject.

LPSO - The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will conduct an insurance checkpoint on Friday, January 27, 2012, during the daylight hours in the central part of the parish. Along with checking to make sure each vehicle is properly insured, deputies will also be checking to make sure any children in a vehicle are safely and properly restrained.

LA DEQ - Today, the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality and its partners celebrated the redesignation of the five parish area around Baton Rouge from nonattainment to attainment for the air pollutant ozone. EPA’s redesignation means it is changing Baton Rouge’s status from out of attainment to attainment.

LPSO - Bayou Region Crime Stoppers is now offering a reward up to $2,500.00 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons involved in a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of Derek J. Rivere on September 8, 2011. A $1,500.00 donation was made to Crime Stoppers by Derek’s father Terrence in the hopes that someone will come forward with new information in the case.

HPD - On 01/09/12 at approximately 1:00am Houma Police Officers responded to a residence on the 600 block of Woodside Drive in reference to a vehicle burglary in progress.The suspects were described as being three (3) male suspects with one being in a wheelchair.
