TPSO - On February 1, 2012, Wednesday afternoon Terrebonne Parish detectives arrested a suspect for offenses against intellectual properties.  The suspect in this investigation had worked for different offshore companies. 

TGMC - The 2^nd Annual Mary Bird Perkins at TGMC Open will take place at Ellendale Country Club April 2 – 7 and will once again feature the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series.

TPSO - On January 29, 2012, Sunday morning at approximately 11:00 a.m. Terrebonne Parish deputies responded to the 200 block of Capri Court in reference to a disturbance.  

TPSO - On January 31, 2012, Tuesday Terrebonne Parish detectives continued the investigation regarding the burglaries that were reported to the Sheriff's Office on Saturday morning, January 28, 2012. 

DEQ - The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality will conduct a watershed-based survey of the Upper Bayou Terrebonne in an effort to collect water discharge data. Starting in February, DEQ environmental scientists will visit facilities along Bayou Terrebonne from Thibodaux to the Inter Coastal Water Way in order to ensure that all facilities have current and appropriate water discharge permits. 

SMPSO - According to Sheriff Mark A. Hebert during the last 24 hours the Sheriff’s Office responded to 42 complaints and reports the following arrests: 

TPSO - The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office has recovered the body of a man reported missing, Sheriff Vernon Bourgeois said. 

TPSO - On January 13, 2012, Terrebonne Parish detectives began an investigation regarding exploitation of the infirm. A family member of the 18 year old mentally challenged victim filed a complaint that the victim's sister had taken a large amount of money out of the victim's bank account.  

NSU - Enrollment in distance learning courses at Nicholls State University increased by nearly 1,600 students between 2010 and 2011 – and the number of unique online courses increased by more than 80. 

SLWDC - The South Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center will produce the first annual Wetlands Youth Summit bringing student leaders together to discuss important issues relating to coastal restoration and preservation. The summit will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 9 AM to 3 PM at Terrebonne Parish’s North Branch Library.  

TPSO - On January 28, 2012, Saturday morning at approximately 7:30 a.m. Terrebonne Parish deputies and detectives responded to the 300 block of Cavaness Dr. Houma in reference to a vehicle burglary.  

LSP - Shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday afternoon, Louisiana State Police Troopers began investigating a single-vehicle crash on LA 308 south of Peltier Drive in Raceland, LA.  

APSO - Late Thursday evening on January 26, 2012, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate a sexual assault of a an adult female from Napoleonville.  She stated that her son’s barber arrived at her residence after calling her and began knocking at the door. 

SMPSO - According to Sheriff Mark A. Hebert during the last 72 hours the Sheriff’s Office responded to 99 complaints and reports the following arrests: 

TPSO - On January 25, 2012, Wednesday morning Terrebonne Parish detectives arrested Kaz James Boudreaux for unauthorized use of a credit card and identity theft.   The victim's credit was stolen and a few days passed before the owner noticed that the credit card was missing.  

MWF - On January 28, 2012 the Myron Wright Foundation will be hosting its 5th annual banquet @ the Moses Community Center, in Thibodaux, La. from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person or $300 a table/8 people per table. 

LPSO - The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated a reported train accident in the Raceland area yesterday afternoon. Units responded to the rear of Bowie Road to a private property area of the main rail line owned by BNSF. 

LPSO - Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported that Jeremy Schouest, (DOB 2/12/73) of 109 East Avenue I, Larose, was charged on January 25, 2012 with molestation of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile.  

NSU - Capital One Bank has donated $45,000 to Nicholls State University, boosting a scholarship fund established by the bank in 2010 and supporting additional university programs. The scholarship assists low- to moderate-income students who meet entrance requirements. 

NSU - Having won first place for the fifth consecutive year at the South Central Regional San Pellegrino Almost Famous Chef Competition, the John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University will once again compete for the national title.  

TPSO - On January 23, 2012, Monday afternoon at approximately 1:00 p.m. a Terrebonne Parish deputy responded to the Ashland North subdivision, 3485 Fallon Dr., Houma in reference to a missing person. Deputies arrived at this location and contacted the mother of the missing person. She advised that her son, Herbert Johnson Jr., suffers with mental illness and has not taken his medication.  

LPSO - Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre is warning business owners and residents about the most recent scam that has already hit at two Lafourche businesses. In this new scam, a male subject posing as a Western Union worker contacts a business with a Western Union machine and has employees transfer money to an account thinking it is part of routine maintenance. 

Houma, LA - The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to those earning less than $48,000.  

TPSO - On January 23, 2012, Monday afternoon at approximately 1:00 p.m. a Terrebonne Parish deputy responded to the Ashland North subdivision, 3485 Fallon Dr., Houma in reference to a missing person. Deputies arrived at this location and contacted the mother of the missing person. She advised that her son, Herbert Johnson Jr., suffers with mental illness and has not taken his medication. 

LPSO - Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre is asking for the public’s help to identify two suspects that broke into a Raceland school over the weekend. Detectives are looking for two B/M subjects that were photographed on a surveillance system after breaking in to Raceland Upper Elementary School.  

TPSO - On January 22, 2012, Sunday afternoon at approximately 12:05 p.m. a Terrebonne Parish deputy was on patrol in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Enterprise Dr. when he made a traffic stop on a 2000 Kia Sephia for an expired motor vehicle inspection sticker.  

SMPSO - According to Sheriff Mark A. Hebert during the last 24 hours the Sheriff’s Office responded to 48 complaints and reports the following arrests: 

LSP - Shortly before 9 a.m. this morning, Louisiana State Police Troopers began investigating a single-vehicle crash on LA 182 east of LA 3087 in Lafourche Parish. 

LPSO - Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported that a female South Lafourche High School teacher stands accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a 17-year-old male student. Heather Lasseigne Chiasson (W/F, D.O.B. 08/23/1982), of 112 E. 28^th Place in Larose, was charged on Friday, January 20, 2012.  

TPSO - On December 24^th, 2011 at approximately 2247 hours TPSO deputies responded to 110 Hidalgo Dr. in reference to a runaway juvenile. Deputies were advised 15 year old (birth date 2-10-1996), Maili Parra, had left her grandmother's residence, where she lives, with a light skinned black male or a Hispanic male subject after her grandmother caught Parra in her bedroom with the male subject.  

LPSO - The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will conduct an insurance checkpoint on Friday, January 27, 2012, during the daylight hours in the central part of the parish. Along with checking to make sure each vehicle is properly insured, deputies will also be checking to make sure any children in a vehicle are safely and properly restrained.

APSO - On January 20, 2012, at 10:36pm the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate a missing female juvenile. Deputies learned that Alissa Brougoyne (W/F 14yoa) had fled her residence sometime during the evening hours.  

LPSO - Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the theft of welding leads from a Golden Meadow shipyard.  

LA DEQ - The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality has announced the completion of remediation on a large segment of Bayou Trepagnier in St. Charles Parish.  

NSU - An exhibit titled “East / West: Contemporary American Prints” is on display in the Ameen Art Gallery at Nicholls State University until Friday, Feb. 3. Sponsored by the Nicholls Foundation, the exhibit is free and open to the public.  

LA DEQ - Today, the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality and its partners celebrated the redesignation of the five parish area around Baton Rouge from nonattainment to attainment for the air pollutant ozone. EPA’s redesignation means it is changing Baton Rouge’s status from out of attainment to attainment.  

LPSO - Bayou Region Crime Stoppers is now offering a reward up to $2,500.00 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons involved in a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of Derek J. Rivere on September 8, 2011. A $1,500.00 donation was made to Crime Stoppers by Derek’s father Terrence in the hopes that someone will come forward with new information in the case.  

SMPSO - Sheriff Mark A. Hebert advises that on 1-19-2012 at 9:01 am the St. Mary Sheriff’s Office received a call of a helicopter going down in the Belle Island area.

TPSO - On January 16, 2012, Monday morning, at approximately 9:00 a.m. Terrebonne Parish deputies responded to the Express convenient Store, 735 Bayou Gardens Boulevard Houma in reference to theft. 

SMPSO - According to Sheriff Mark A. Hebert during the last 96 hours the Sheriff’s Office responded to 136 complaints and reports the following arrests: 

LSP - Troopers assigned to the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations brought several criminal cases to conclusion this past week resulting in arrests across numerous parishes.  

TPSO - Sheriff Vernon Bourgeois said that on January 14, 2012, Saturday evening at approximately 2:50 p.m. Terrebonne Parish deputies and detectives responded to 151 Millenium Ave. Houma  in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival at this location it was discovered that a 26 year white male had been shot once by his girlfriend’s father. 

NSU - The fourth annual Louisiana Swamp Stomp Festival at Nicholls State University, slated for Friday, March 16, through Sunday, March 18, will feature an extensive lineup of Cajun, Zydeco and swamp pop acts – among them, two recent Grammy nominees.  

NSU - Mr. Lionel Naquin and Dr. Terry Dantin, both retirees of Nicholls State University, were awarded the titles of vice president for finance and administration emeritus and professor emeritus, respectively, on Thursday, Jan. 12. 

HPD - On 01/09/12 at approximately 1:00am Houma Police Officers responded to a residence on the 600 block of Woodside Drive in reference to a vehicle burglary in progress.The suspects were described as being three (3) male suspects with one being in a wheelchair.
