Man Arrested for Battery On a Police Officer
HPD - On Saturday, October 11, 2008 at approximately 2:43am Houma Police were called to Terrebonne General Medical Center in reference to a subject fighting with the security guards in the emergency room.
Upon arrival officers contacted hospital security that advised an Allen Wayne Lake, W/M, 01/06/77 of 115 Wilford Price Court Houma, LA entered the emergency room for medical attention due to his right wrist having a laceration that was caused from him striking a window.
Mr. Lake was triaged and placed into a room in the emergency room area. Mr. Lake then requested to smoke a cigarette and attempted to exit the room. Security officers informed Mr. Lake that he was not allowed to leave due to the intensity of the wound.
Mr. Lake became angry and verbally aggressive toward the security officers. Mr. Lake then attacked a security officer by pushing and punching him several times in the facial area. The security officer received a scratch on the forehead due to the incident. He also kicked other security officers in the groan area during the altercation and struck a nurse in the leg. Mr. Lake broke the thermostat off the wall in the emergency room during the altercation. However, no one else was injured during the incident.
Upon contact with Mr. Lake he continued to refuse to cooperate with the emergency room staff, hospital security, and police officers. The officers noticed Mr. Lake appeared to be intoxicated as he had a strong order of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath and his speech was badly slurred.
Mr. Lake was charged with two counts of battery on a police officer, one count of simple battery, one count of simple assault and one count of simple criminal damage to property.
Mr. Lake was later incarcerated awaiting trial or bond after given medical treatment.
