Houma Police Investigate Hit and Run Houma (HPD) - On 12/16/08 at approximately 10:26am Houma Police were dispatched to the area of LA 57/ Grand Caillou Road and LA 659/ Park Avenue (Daigleville Bridge) in reference to a vehicle that had struck the stop arms on the bridge. Officers were informed via police radio that the suspect vehicle had fled the scene which was described as a white dodge dually truck with a welding machine in the bed. The suspect vehicle was last seen traveling south on LA 57/ Grand Caillou Road. A bolo was issued over the police radio for surrounding units. Upon arrival officers spoke to the bridge tender who stated that the bridge was closed at the time of the incident for maintenance when a white dually truck possibly a dodge truck pulled up to the stop arms and stopped. The bridge tender explained that after the truck was stopped for a while it appeared as though the driver became impatient and suddenly drove through the southbound stop arms at LA 659/Park Avenue. The suspect driver then continued to proceed forward striking the stop arms located at LA 24/ Main Street. The suspect driver then left the scene traveling southbound on LA 57/ Grand Caillou Road. Officers patrolled the area extensively and were unable to locate the suspect vehicle therefore, anyone with information is asked to call Houma Police at 873-6371.
