Woman Arrested After Blocking Ambulance
Larose (LSP) - Sheriff Webre reported that on January 31, 2003, officers responded to a 911 call of an elderly person having chest pains. Medics on the scene reported that a female at the location was refusing to allow the ambulance to leave with a patient who was having severe chest pains.
South Lafourche Ambulance were treating the patient, an elderly female, inside the ambulance, while another female outside the unit, continued to interfere with treatment. Medic staff told officers that they needed to get the patient to the hospital.
Officers witnessed the female stand in front of the ambulance which had its lights and siren engaged, refusing to allow it to leave for the hospital.
Officers then arrested a Kathryn Smith, 45, of 135 West 20th Street in Galliano. Officers later learned that the patient in the ambulance was Kathryn’s mother.

Smith was charged with the following:

Resisting Violently
Battery on an Officer 2 Counts

Judge Barbara set Smith’s bond at $3500.00 and issued a stay away order regarding her mother.
