Terrebonne Flooding 10 p.m. Update

Houma, LA (TPCG) - 10:00 p.m. Release from The Office of Emergency Preparedness:

Terrebonne Parish received more than 10.6 inches of rain in the early hours of the morning.

At this time 197 structures are confirmed with flooding in Terrebonne Parish as a result of last night’s rainfall. Individuals whose structures received flood waters need to contact the Office of Emergency Preparedness at 873-6357.

Based on information received from the National Weather Service, Terrebonne Parish anticipates 1 ½ to 2 inches of rainfall before Saturday morning, with the front clearing the area by 6:00 a.m.

If you think you may encounter flooding, you may want to consider sandbagging all entrances to your home and all weep-holes. TPCG has set up four sandbag locations at the Coteau Park, the Bayou Black Fire Station on Savanne Road, the Adult Softball Complex on the airbase and at the Cannata’s on the West side at 6307 West Park.

The Municipal Auditorium will remain open through the night should it be needed.

The Office of Emergency Preparedness will be working through the night. If you need additional information please call 873-6357.

TPCG Public Works will be working through the night also. You may call 873-6357 to report any issues requiring immediate attention.

Terrebonne Parish officials are urging your assistance in removing litter and debris from drains and ditches where feasible.

Law Enforcement will be out in full force throughout the night barricading roads that are flooded.

The only school that has reported any significant damage was Broadmoor Elementary and the damage has been remedied and will re-open Monday morning.
