LSP - Shortly before 4 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop C investigated a one vehicle fatality crash on LA 182 near LA 660. The investigation revealed that a 2000 Ford Mustang was traveling east on LA 182 when it traveled off the road.

LSP - Yesterday afternoon around 4 PM, Louisiana State Police Troop C investigated a fatality crash on Jolimar Street by LA 1 in Assumption Parish.  The investigation revealed that a 2011 Honda All Terrain Vehicle (4-wheeler) was traveling north on the southbound shoulder of LA 1 approaching Jolimar Street.

NSU - Nicholls State University’s Department of Art hosted its annual “High School Day,” attracting more than 270 students from 14 area high schools. The department’s major annual recruiting initiative, this free event provides area high school students an opportunity to participate in hands-on art projects while learning about the art degree program at Nicholls.

Washington, D.C.- U.S. Sen. David Vitter introduced a bill earlier this week, S.2100, along with U.S. Sens. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.) and John Hoeven (R-N.D.), to prohibit opening the Strategic Petroleum Reserve unless the Keystone XL Pipeline permit is issued. This week the White House signaled that it may open the SPR if oil prices continue to rise.

TGMC - The 6th Annual Super Cooper 5K and 1-Mile fun run is scheduled for March 24th, 2012 at the Workout Company in Houma. This event is hosted by John and Ashley Fontenot of the Copper Life Fund and raises money for families whose newborn infants are born with medical conditions and are admitted into Terrebonne General Medical Center's (TGMC) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

LSP - Around 1:30 PM today, Louisiana State Police Troop C was notified of a possible vehicle crash on LA 309 in Lafourche Parish. A passing motorist, who called Troop C, noticed tire marks leaving the roadway towards a canal along LA 309.

LPSO - Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported three individuals were arrested on drug charges after separate traffic stops on Tuesday, February 7. Ivy Frank (B/M, D.O.B. 05/28/87) of 332 Monarch Drive, Apt. 2 in Houma, and Vanessa Perez (W/F, D.O.B. 07/12/63) and Mark Bouffanie (W/M, D.O.B. 11/02/67), both of 113 E. 125th Street in Galliano, all face various drug-related charges.

LSP - Louisiana State Police Troop C will conduct a DWI Checkpoint, Thursday, February 9, in Terrebonne Parish. The sobriety checkpoint will begin at approximately 9:00 pm and end at 4:00 am. The checkpoint will be manned by Louisiana State Police Troop C, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Houma Police Department.

DEQ - The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality will conduct a watershed-based survey of the Upper Bayou Terrebonne in an effort to collect water discharge data. Starting in February, DEQ environmental scientists will visit facilities along Bayou Terrebonne from Thibodaux to the Inter Coastal Water Way in order to ensure that all facilities have current and appropriate water discharge permits.
