Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office - On December 24th, 2011 at approximately 2247 hours TPSO deputies responded to 110 Hidalgo Dr. in reference to a runaway juvenile. Deputies were advised 15 year old (birth date 2-10-1996), Maili Parra, had left her grandmother's residence, where she lives, with a light skinned black male or a Hispanic male subject after her grandmother caught Parra in her bedroom with the male subject.
Deputies patrolled the area and attempted to contact Parra by cell phone but were unsuccessful. Since then the child's phone records have been analyzed and her friends have been questioned as to her possible whereabouts. According to her friends, Parra, would speak on the phone with a Hispanic male subject, whom she never identified during the times of the overheard conversations. That contact number was also located on her phone records on the day Parra runaway. Parra's mother believes the child has runaway with her ex-husband, Carlos Roberto Guzman Cruz (H/M 9-15-85), who is the possible owner of the phone number that appears on the phone contacts. Guzman was deported by Homeland Security in July 2011 and should not be able to make entry into the United States for at least five years.
A local cab company that advised they had picked up a couple from Honduras St. Houma in the immediate area of Parra's residence and transported them to New Orleans International Airport. The cab driver advised he did not believe the female had been a juvenile. Flights from New Orleans were checked but Parra does not appear on any passenger manifest. Since the date she ran away Parra has made phone contact once with the father of her brother. She would not advise her whereabouts or with whom she was accompanied. She refused to call her mother and mentioned she may be pregnant. Attached is a photo of Parra. A photograph of Guzman is not available at this time. Anyone with information concerning this investigation is asked to call the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office, (985)876-2500, or Crime Stoppers, 1(800)743-7433, and may be eligible for a cash reward. Detective Tara Whitney (TPSO) is assigned to this investigation if anyone has any information that may assist in this case.
